Lula "Lou" Newton

Services for Lula "Lou" Newton, 78, of Houma, LA, will be held at 10:00 am Friday, February 7, 2020, at Abell Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Tilley officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Newton died Friday, January 31, 2020, in Houma, LA. She was born November 28, 1941 in Ashdown, AR, to John Alfred and Gertrude Terry. She married Frank Finch and to their union was born a daughter, Sherena. On Christmas Eve, 1977 she married Ralph Newton in Lubbock, TX. Lou enjoyed making jewelry, loved to read and watch TV and movies. She was a hostess and waitress and later became manager for Payless Shoes, where she worked for 17 years. She and her husband Ralph were entrepreneurs. She owned and operated a restaurant, "White Kitchen" in Littlefield. She loved her family and was an awesome mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by Frank Finch, her parents and 9 siblings. Lou is survived by her husband, Ralph Newton of Houma, LA, daughter Sherena Redmon, step-daughter, Jamie Robinson, 3 grandchildren, Amanda Lynn and husband Brian, Andy Pearson and wife Diana and Adam Pearson and wife Kaley, 13 great grandchildren, Brandon, SheyAnn, Nathan, Jordan, Christian, Peyton, MaryAnn, Landon Lynn, Kiera, Valerie, Rese, Embry and Randy Scott Pearson, with one great grandchild on the way, a brother, Roy Terry and wife Estelle.
