Rosary for Luciana P. Jara, 91, of Lubbock, TX, was recited at 7:30 pm Tuesday, April 28, 2009, in the St. Isidore Catholic Church, Abernathy, TX. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at 12:00 pm Wednesday, April 29, 1009, in St. Isidore Catholic Church in Abernathy, with Rev. Jacob Puthuparambil, officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Jara died Sunday, April 26, 2009, in Lubbock, TX. She was born January 8, 1918 in Maxwell, TX to Antonio and Teodora Ponciano. She moved to Abernathy, TX in 1953 from the McAllen, TX area, where she lived until moving to Lubbock in 1993. She was a former member of St. Isidore Catholic Church in Abernathy and was a member of the Guadalupanas. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, 6 brothers and a granddaughter, Christy Jane Pierson. She is survived by a son, Johnny Jara and a daughter, Mary Pierson both of Lubbock, TX, 7 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Abell Funeral Home
