Graveside services for Lou Shaver, 89, longtime resident of Hale Center, TX, were held at 3:00 pm Thursday, October 24, 2002, in the Hale Center Cemetery. Matt Swanson, minister of the Hale Center Church of Christ, officiating. Services were under the direction of Freeman-Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center, TX. Mrs. Shaver died Monday, October 21, 2002, at the Running Water Draw Nursing Home in Olton, TX. She was born on September 6, 1913 in Carbon, TX. She taught school in Rochester, TX. She married Aubrey A. Shaver on December 7, 1933 in Oklahoma. They moved to Hale Center in 1948. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hale Center, The Ladies Auxiliary and the hale County Home Demonstration Club. She was preceded in death by her husband on September 15, 1991. Survivors; 2 sons, Aubrey Shaver and Dick Shaver both of Hale Center, Tx. 2 daughters, Ann Shaver of Hale Center, TX and Cheryl Lyles of Kress, TX. 2 brothers, Paul Grinstead of Rochester, TX and Neal Grinstead of Hastings, Nebraska. 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
