Lorene Betts

Services for Lorene Betts, 91, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, December 8, 2012, in the Bethel Baptist Church, Abernathy, with Rev. W. R. Bolton, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Betts died Monday, December 3, 2012, in Lubbock, TX. She was born to the parentage of Jim and Minnie (Willid) Jackson on July 12, 1921 in Naples, TX. She married Hervey Lee Betts, May of 1940 in Naples and he preceded her in death on May 12, 1992. They moved to Abernathy from the Naples, TX area in 1947, she was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church and a loving mother to her 11 children. She was preceded in death by 4 children, Hervey Lee Betts, Jr in 2006, Fayrene Reese in 2007, Barbara Brideges in 2010 and Cynathia Betts in 2012. Those left to mourn her passing are her 4 sons, L. J. Betts and Larry Betts both of Lubbock, TX, Artis Betts of Yukon, OK and Willie Betts of Garland, TX, 3 daughters, Mary McGaha of Houston, TX, Betty Betts of Abernathy, TX and Carolyn Betts of Lubbock, TX, 20 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
