Graveside services for Lennie Merle Freeman, 83, formerly of Lubbock, TX, were held at 2:00 pm, Friday, March 30, 2007 in the Crosbyton Cemetery in Crosbyton, TX with Joe L. Freeman, a nephew of Ms. Freeman, officiating. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Hale Center, TX. She died March 27, 2007 in Plainview, TX. She was born January 30, 1924 in Crosbyton, TX to Clarence and Nora Freeman. Descending from a father who served in the Navy during World War I, it was natural for her to join and enjoy ten years in the service for her country. Her two brothers, Charles Freeman who served in World War II and Bill Freeman who served during the Korean Conflict, were also members of this patriotic Crosbyton family. After being inducted into the Army Air Corp in 1944 she had assignments in Georgia, Tennessee, Montana, Alaska, Alabama and New Jersey, then served in Germany for over five years. She spent the next 24 years as a civil service employee at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, TX. She is survived by one brother, Bill Freeman of Hale Center, TX and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Charles Freeman and 2 sisters, Mary Nell Ivey and Anita Lindley. Abell Funeral Home
