Kenneth Sanders

Kenneth Wayne (Ken) Sanders, 51, died Saturday, May 4, 2013 in Amarillo, TX. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Abernathy Church of Christ with Rev. Clifton Peoples officiating and Rev. B. R. Moton, assisting. Burial will follow at the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. A visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Abell Funeral Home. Ken was born May 26, 1961 in Lubbock, TX to the parentage of A. L. (Shorty) and Minnie (Smith) Sanders. He grew up in Abernathy and attended Abernathy Public Schools where he was active in all sports. After graduation he attended Panhandle State where he played football. He was added to the church at an early age. He later became a CDL truck driver. He was a jack of all trades and his passion was helping and serving others in all jobs. He lived in Abernathy and Lubbock before moving to Amarillo in July of 2012. He married Janie Izaguirre, August 27, 2007 in Lubbock, TX, to that union a son was born, Kenneth (Kenny) Wayne Sanders Jr. Ken also has five other children, Eric Clark, Anthony Clark, Kimberly Clark, Cynthia Lozano, all of Lubbock, and Julissa Collins of Austin, TX. He is survived by his wife, 6 children, 6 grandchildren, two brothers, Clarence Sanders of Ft. Worth, TX, David (Kelly) Sanders of Amarillo, TX, 4 sisters, Sandra Henry of Lubbock, Arnie Faye (James) Muhammed of Abernathy, Vanessa (Charles) Mathis of Sweeny, TX and Lonnie (Marvin) Satterfield of Amarillo and a "special" niece, Jessica Martin.
