Services for Kenneth Phillips, 76, of Lubbock and formerly of Abernathy, TX were held at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 6, 2005, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. John Lowrie officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Phillips died Saturday, August 3, 2005, at his home in Lubbock. He was born June 6, 1929 in Byers, TX. He married Theo Joy Pharr, November 28, 1951 in Abernathy. He moved to Abernathy in 1948 where he was a member of the First Baptist Church. He served as Past Master and 50 year member of the Abernathy Masonic Lodgeand was a member and Past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star. He farmed in the Abernathy area until moving to Lubbock in 1986 where he was employed by the City of Lubbock until his death. He is survived by his wife, Theo Phillips of Lubbock, TX, 4 children, Steve Phillips of Victoria, TX, Roger Phillips of Plainview, TX, Lee Anne Allen of Lubbock, TX and Richard Phillips of Goliad, TX, 3 sisters, Betty Carlton of Weatherford, TX, Edith Scudder and Joann Cotton both of Lubbock, TX, 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
