The family of Keith Shipman, 90 of Abernathy, TX, will gather to receive friends Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Abell Funeral Home, Abernathy, TX. Cremation and services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. Mr. Shipman died Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at his home. Keith was born July 7, 1934 in Abernathy, TX to Furman and Lois Audrey (Pate) Shipman. He graduated from Abernathy High School in 1949 at age 15, and then began attending Texas Tech. Keith was married to Barbara (Yelvington) Shipman for 44 years. Keith was a lifelong cotton farmer in Hale and Floyd Counties, retiring in 2011. He was a professional bowler, holding his PBA card, and was an excellent marksman, shooting skeet. Keith enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially fishing at O.H. Ivie Lake. He had a great personality that could light up a room. Keith was a member of the Abernathy and Floydada Masonic Lodges. He is preceded in death by his sister Brenda Apperson. Keith is survived by his wife Barbara Shipman of Abernathy, daughters Karen Brockway and husband Tommy of Terrell, TX, Tammy Shipman of Tulia, TX, and Terri Pearson of Happy, TX, stepson Randall Blindert of Lubbock, TX, 5 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and a sister Linda Ballard and husband Bob of New Home, TX.
