Judy Tilley

April 12, 1945 — December 11, 2025

Judy Tilley, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 80. Born on April 12, 1945, in Russellville, Arkansas to T.N. Teeter, Jr, and Frances E. (Harris) Teeter, Judy was a woman whose life embodied unwavering faith and devotion.

Judy's journey through life led her to become a longtime member of the Living Word Church in Lubbock, where she inspired countless others with her spirit and love for God. She was a woman of great faith; as she faced her final moments, her heart was filled with hope, expressed in her gentle affirmation, "I am ready to go to Heaven." This sentiment encapsulates the essence of her character and her approach to life.

Judy completed her educational journey in Abernathy, where she attended school and built a foundation that would support her engagements as a devoted family member and community member. Beyond her spiritual convictions, she had passions that brought joy and comfort to her life. Gardening and canning were among her favorite hobbies, where she found not only a creative outlet but also a way to connect with nature. Her unique collection of Gone with the Wind memorabilia highlighted her appreciation for beauty and stories from the past.

She is survived by her loving children, sons, Kerry Tilley and his wife Reva of Amarillo, Texas, Barry Tilley and his wife Renee of Lubbock, Texas and Shawn Tilley and his partner Matt of San Francisco, California, her daughter, Sheryll Rasberry, of Lubbock, Texas. Judy’s spirit shines on through her seven grandchildren: Meagan Tilley, Morgan Casey and husband Chauncey, Kaitlyn Wilson, Kembrah Williams and husband C.J., Kamden Wilson, Karyss Wilson, and Kohen Rasberry, all of whom were deeply cherished by their "Granny".

She is also remembered fondly by her sisters, Joyce Teeter and Teresa Ambrose, both of Abernathy, Texas. She is also survived by her sisters in law Teresa Lynn Teeter of Burkburnett, Texas and Louise Teeter of Olton, Texas. Judy's warm presence will be deeply missed, yet her love and teachings will continue to resonate in the hearts of those she touched.

Judy Tilley is preceded in death by her loving husband, R.G. “Buddy” Tilley, her parents, two grandchild, two brothers, Danny Teeter and Teddy Teeter, and a sister, Kathy Vannoy. They welcome her now into their eternal embrace, as her spirit soars into a new beginning.

A graveside service to honor Judy's life will be held on December 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Abernathy Cemetery in Abernathy, Texas, officiated by her sons Kerry and Barry Tilley. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, Texas.
