Services for Juanita Loyd, 100 of Lubbock, Texas, will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, May 2, 2026 at the St. Lukes Methodist Church in Lubbock Texas, with reverend Andy Hurst officiating. The family will gather to receive friends Friday, May 1, 2026 from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Abell Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, Texas.
Juanita died Tuesday, April 28, 2026 in Granbury, Texas
Juanita Gore was born December 17, 1925 to Warren and Eldie (Brown) Gore. Juanita attended the Cotton Center schools, and loved playing basketball. When she was 19 she married Elton Settle, in 1944. They had two sons, Leonard Gordon and Randall Henderson. Impressive names for a woman with no middle name. On August 20, 1966 she suffered the loss of Elton to natural causes. in 1971 Juanita married Grady Lloyd. After his passing , she sold their home had became a resident of The Sherrick Independent Senior Living . On January 1st, 2025 Juanita moved to The Oaks of Granbury facility to be closer to her son Randy and his wife Beth.
She is preceded in death by her siblings
Juanita is survived by her sons Leonard Gordon Settle, Randall Henderson Settle and his wife Beth of Granbury, 3 grandchildren Summer Garrett and husband Kelley of Fate, Texas, and her two children Jaci and Liberty, Tracy Hodges of Oregon and Jason Loyd of Arizona, and 7 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends. She was loved and cherished by the people whose lives she touched. Juanita (Pete) will be missed by all.
She was a child of God and she lived her life to honor him.
The family suggests memorials be sent to the St. Luke's Methodist Church, 3708 45th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79413 or by planting a tree through the Abell Funeral Home website.
