Services for Juanita Bell, 91, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 11, 2004, in the First United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mrs. Bell died Friday, May 7, 2004, in Lubbock, TX. She was born June 5, 1912 in Vernon, TX to Joseph Thomas Meredith and Sarah Amanda Armstrong Meredith. She married Milton Marion Bell December 30, 1931 in Oklahoma and he preceded her in death October 12, 1984. She moved to the Abernathy area in 1936 from Vernon, TX. She joined the Fidelis Sunday School Class at the First United Methodist Church in 1942. She was a member of the City Garden Club, Home Demonstaration Club, Hobby Club, Eastern Star and the Women's division of the Abernathy Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of the Tuesday Morning Ladies Community Bible Study Group and had served as hostess at the Ranching Heritage Center since 1975 at the Barton House. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Lucy Bell of Lubbock, TX, a daughter and son-in-law, Marion and Riley Wooten of Lubbock, TX, one sister, Estelle Bailey of Vernon, TX, 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
