Juan Ponce

Rosary for Juan T. Ponce, 85, of Sumter, SC and formerly of Abernathy, TX, was recited at 7:00 pm Sunday, April 17, 2011, in St. Isidore Catholic Church with Father Jacob Puthuparambil officiating. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:00 am Monday, April 18, 2011, in the same church with the same officiant. Burial followed services in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Ponce died Wednesday, April 13, 2011 in Sumter, SC. He was born January 20, 1926 to Uvaldo and Marselina (Torres) Ponce. He married Victoria P. Ponce on April 28, 1946 in Edinburg, TX. He had been a longtime resident of Abernathy before moving. He was preceded in death by his wife Victoria, a son, Roy Ponce, Sr., and a daughter, Estela Ponce. He is survived by 2 sons, Johnny and Ruben Ponce, both of Abernathy, TX, a daughter, Sylvia Trapp of Sumter, SC, one brother, Eubaldo Ponce of Frisco, TX, 2 sisters, Severa Galicia of Edinburg, TX and Maria Gomez of Poniac, Michigan, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
