Juan Silva Contreras

Services for Juan "Johnny" Silva Contreras, 77, of Abernathy will be held at 10:00 am Friday, June 3, 2022 at Mount De Los Olivas in Abernathy, TX with Martin Maldonado officiating. Public viewing will be held Thursday from 10:00 am until evening service time at 6:00 pm at the same church. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Contreras died Monday, May 30, 2022, in Lubbock, TX. Johnny was born June 13, 1944 in Valle Hermoso, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Felipe and Maria (Vasquez) Contreras. He married Eloisa Faz, January 20, 1968 in Lubbock, TX. They moved to Abernathy in 1968. He enjoyed his grandchildren, and liked listening to music. Johnny played the accordion, was a hard worker. He was a farmer and was always out working early in the mornings. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Consuelo Alvarado Contreras. He is survived by his wife, Eloisa Contreras of Abernathy, 4 children, Ruben Contreras, Juan Contreras, Jr both of Abernathy and Luis Contreras, Sr. and Sonia Villegas both of Lubbock, TX, 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
