Joyce Connell

Services for Joyce Connell, 66, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Monday, December 2, 2002, in the First Baptist Church, Abernathy, with Rev. John Lowrie, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mrs. Connell died on Saturday, November 30, 2002. She was born on August 25, 1936 in Spur, TX. She married Joe Connell on December 2, 1955 in Lubbock, TX. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1981. She had lived in the Abernathy area since 1961 when she moved from Dimmitt, TX. She was employed as the secretary for the County Line Coop Gin and then became an insurance agent for US Life Insurance Company from 1984 until 1988. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Abernathy First Baptist Church. She was a Sunday School Teacher for many years at the County Line First Baptist Church and later at the Abernathy First Baptist Church. Survivors, 2 sons, Joe Jack Connell of Abernathy, TX, and Cody Connell of Slidell, LA. 1 daughter, Cindy Lutrick of Abernathy, TX. 1 brother, Roy McMahan of Littlefield, TX. 1 sister, Bea Russell of Lamesa, TX. 7 grandchildren, Landon Lutrick, Lyssa Lutrick, Crysta Connell and Cameron Connell all of Abernathy, TX, and Ben Connell, Coleman Connell and Luke Connell all of Slidell, LA.
