Services for Johnsey D. Porter, 84, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 10:00 am Saturday, November 5, 2005, at the County Line Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Tilley and Rev. Joel Perez officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Porter died Wednesday, November 2, 2005, in University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. She was born June 17, 1921 in Cartersville, OK. She married Wilborn Russell Porter, November 23, 1947 in Hale County, TX. He preceded her in death October 2, 1968. She moved to Abernathy in 1941 from the Becton/Heckville areas. She had been a longtime member of the County Line Baptist Church. She is survived by 2 daughters, Shirley Musil and Anita Porter both of Abernathy, TX, a brother, Arbra Davis of Acuff, TX, 2 sisters, Vida Nabors of Abernathy and Lennie Samallin of Lincoln, CO. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Jeanette (Whitaker) Hastings of Lubbock, TX, Stacy (Whitaker) Trotter of Hale Center, TX and Ammie Musil of Abernathy, and 7 great grandchildren.
