Johnny Noel

Johnny Noel, born June 22, 1952, in Plainview, Texas, passed away on June 25, 2026, in Petersburg, Texas. He was 74 years old.

Johnny’s life was dedicated to the land that shaped him. After graduating from Petersburg High School in 1970, he embraced the values instilled in him by family and community, choosing a life of hard work and stewardship. Johnny farmed and ranched in both Hale and Floyd County, forging a reputation for diligence, skill, and quiet strength among those who knew him. 

One of the proudest moments in Johnny’s life came with his marriage to his high school sweet heart, Deborah Davis on June 22, 1973, in Petersburg, Texas. Together, they built a partnership that endured through decades, their bond a testament to mutual respect, steadfast love, and shared purpose. 

From an early age, Johnny’s faith was a central part of his life. As a child, at the Happy Union Baptist Church where his father served as a deacon, Johnny accepted Christ as his savior. He later attended First Baptist Church Petersburg for many years. 

Johnny had a true appreciation for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting—mainly pursuing bird and deer throughout the open Texas landscape. Ever adventurous, Johnny even participated in exotic hunts, including the memorable challenge of alligator hunting. 

Johnny is preceded in death by his brother JoEd Noel.

He is survived by his wife Debbie Noel of Petersburg, TX, son Landon Noel of Lubbock, TX and 3 grandchildren Kalysen, Liara, and Garrus Noel all of Lubbock, TX. 

A visitation to honor Johnny Noel’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Abell Funeral Home. Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects and celebrate the memory of a life well-lived. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, Texas.
