John Faulkenberry

Funeral services for John Cecil Faulkenberry, 85, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Sunday, May 30, 2004, in the Abernathy First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Don Cheshire, pastor, officiating. Military Graveside Honors were held in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Faulkenberry died Friday, May 28, 2004, in Lubbock, TX. He was born November 6, 1918 in Lane, OK. He served in the United States Army during WWII in the 1st Cavalry Division of the 5th Cavalry. He married Tootsie Curry in Visalia, CA, March 15, 1944. He moved to Abernathy in 1985 after living many years in Seagraves, TX, where he was employed with Southwestern Public Service. While living in Seagraves, he was active in city government. He was a member of the Abernathy First United Methodist Church, American Legion and the VFW. He is survived by his wife, Tootsie Faulkenberry of Abernathy, TX, one son, Johny "Bo" Curry and his wife June of Flint, TX, one daughter, Cynie Hopkins and her husband Leland of Chillicothe, TX. One brother, Jessie Faulkenberry of Texas, 3 sisters, Alene Lowe and Syble Sanders both of Oklahoma and Audrey Bradford of California. Five grandchildren, Ryan Faulkenberry, Clay Faulkenberry, D'Aun Pakulak, Leah Bradley and Christy Tabor, and 10 great grandchildren. Abell Funeral Home
