John Dever

Graveside services for John E. Dever, Jr., 80, of Lubbock, TX will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, July 29, 2013, in the Abernathy Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Dever died Thursday, July 25, 2013, in Lubbock. He was born February 22, 1933 on a ranch outside of Snyder, TX, and was raised in the Snyder and Sweetwater, TX areas, graduating from Sweetwater High School. He married Bobbie Walker on January 3, 1953 in Roscoe, TX. He was employed at an oil refinery and was a resident of Coahoma, TX from 1961 until 2003. They moved to Lubbock in 2008. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Washburn in 2009 and a brother, Ted Dever. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Dever of Lubbock, 3 sons, John E. Dever III and wife Theresa of Austin, TX, James Dever and wife Jane of Lubbock, TX and Jeff Dever and wife Merita of Leander, TX, one brother, Ken Dever of Hereford, AZ and a sister Cynthia Mathis of Jacksonville, Fl, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
