Graveside services for Jo Ann Peterson, 86, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Pearce Chapel Strip Cemetery, Abernathy with Rev. Robert Winkler officiating. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. She was born November 27, 1937 in Dimmitt, TX to Ernest and Valter (Wagnon) Nowell. She grew up in Lazbuddie, TX, where she graduated from High School. She married Jerry Arnold "Pete" Peterson December 7, 1957 in Clovis, NM. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephoned continued with AT&T after their transition, retiring in 1986. After her retirement, they relocated to Lake City until returning to Abernathy in 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Arnold "Pete" Peterson, June 11, 2021 and a sister, Johnnie Battey and husband Keith. She is survived by 3 daughters, Phyllis Attebury and husband Kenny of Abernathy, Jeri Rothell and husband Doyle of Amarillo, TX, and Nanette Hill and husband Raymond of Shallowater, TX, 9 grandchildren, Justin Watts, Tyler and Kristin Hill, Mark and Melissa Attebury, Chris and Kyla Attebury, Tabitha and Kyle Kelley, JoAnna and David Ray Kuehler, Chelsi and Zack Simmons, Kristopher and Heather Lawrence and Keenan and Maegan Lawrence and 27 great grandchildren and one on the way, and a sister, Jan Adams and husband John of Stephenville, TX.
