She was born to June 10, 1949 in Lubbock, Texas, the oldest of 5 children, to Ed and Retha (Cannon) Huffhines. Her involvement in 4-H was an important part of her childhood and teenage years. She showed cattle, participated in fashion shows, competed in the State Food Show, and was honored to earn the State Championship in milo production, reflecting her dedication and passion for agriculture.

After graduating from Hale Center High School in 1967, she married the love of her life, Sid Berry, on June 12, 1967, in Hale Center. She worked as a beautician until the birth of their first son, Alan. She then devoted herself to raising their boys while working alongside Sid on the family farm, where together they built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work.

She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Hale Center, where she found joy in serving others through the kitchen ministry during Vacation Bible School and volunteering with Mission Hale Center. She was deeply involved in her community, serving as a 4-H Adult Leader and playing an integral role in the Hale Center Little Dribblers program. As a devoted mother, she spent countless hours traveling to cheer on her sons at band performances and basketball games, always supporting them with love and encouragement.
