Janey Martin

Services for Janey Martin, 69, of Petersburg, TX, will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, in the Petersburg First Baptist Church with Rev. Jesse Nave and Rev. Mike O' Donnell officiating. Burial will follow in the Petersburg Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. The family will gather to receive friends at Abell Funeral Home, Monday evening, Oct. 13th, from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm. Mrs. Martin died Saturday, October 11, 2014, in Lubbock, TX. She was born July 14, 1945 in Lubbock to Flim Vester and Elsie Odessa (Hazel) Dunn, was raised in New Deal, TX and was a longtime Petersburg resident. She married Orville Martin on September 6, 1963 in New Deal. She was a member of the Petersburg First Baptist Church and had been an area bookkeeper for many years. Even during her battle with cancer, she was still concerned about the welfare of everyone else over her own needs. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Shannon Ray Martin, November 13, 1964. She is survived by her husband Orville Martin of Petersburg, TX, 2 daughters, Shanda Rogers and husband Chad of Abernathy, TX, Sh'Non Weaver and husband Jeff of Buffalo Gap, TX, a sister, Zelma Goldston of Lubbock, TX, 3 brothers, Willie Dunn of Abernathy, Franklin Dunn of Idalou, TX and Earl Dunn of Lubbock, 4 grandchildren, Peyton Rogers and wife Dorothy of Abernathy, Brendan Rogers of Edmond, OK, Brooklyn Weaver and Hanna Weaver both of Buffalo Gap. The family suggests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church, 2001 Main Street, Petersburg, TX 79250.
