James Davis

Services for James W. Davis, 85, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 9, 2004, in the First United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mr. Davis died Sunday evening, June 6, 2004, at his home in Abernathy. He was born July 27, 1918 in Denison, TX. He married Dyvena Evans in Lubbock, TX, November 27, 1936. He was a longtime Abernathy resident and member of the First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Gale Davis, February 4, 1952, 1 brother, Ralph Davis and 2 sisters, Hazel Linton and Pauline Durrett. He is survived by his wife, Dyvena Davis of Abernathy, TX, a son, Jimmie Davis of Abernathy, TX, two daughters, Betty Ballard of Rockport, TX, and Billie Dean of Halfway, TX, one brother Harold Davis of Abernathy, 7 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be sent to Muscular Dystrophy Association, Vista Care Hospice of Plainview, TX, or the First United Methodist Church, Abernathy. Abell Funeral Home
