Jack Sageser

Services for Jack F. Sageser, 85, of Cotton Center, TX, will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, February 29, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Cotton Center with Rev. J. D. Templeton, officiating. Graveside services will follow at Center Plains Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Hale Center.The family will gather at the Family Center at Abell Funeral Home in Hale Center from 4:30 pm until 6:00 pm, Sunday, February 28th. Mr. Sageser died Thursday, February 25, 2016, in Lubbock, TX. He was born February 13, 1931 in Lubbock, TX to Forest and Emma (Pool) Sageser. He grew up on farm land that was settled near Cotton Center by his grandparents in the late 1800's and then continued to farm that land all of his adult life. He graduated from Cotton Center High School in 1948. He received a degree in agricultural education from Texas Tech University in 1952, and was a member of Alpha Zeta. He was a member of Cotton Center First Baptist Church all of his life. He served in the U. S. Army four years during the Korean War. He served stateside and was stationed in New York where he made lifetime friends. He married Nancy Davene Thompson on August 29, 1953 at Cotton Center First Baptist Church. They had been married 58 years at the time of her death. He was a longtime member of Cotton Center Lions Club and had served on the boards of Cotton Center ISD, Cotton Center Coop Gin , and Center Plains Cemetery Assoc. He was very loyal and devoted to his family and to his Savior, church, community, and country. He is survived by his children: Sharla Wallace and husband Sam of Abilene, TX, Chris Sageser and wife Raynie of Cotton Center, and Nancy Wood and husband Michael of Lubbock; his grandchildren, Sarah Heath McCullough and husband Stephen, Katie McGavock, Te'a Wallace, Cristalyn Sageser Parten and husband Chance, Jay Ray Sageser, Cayley Wood and Mayci Wood; three great- grandchildren; Alice McCullough, and Cauley and Christian Parten; a sister; Martha Lou Burnett of Cotton Center and a brother, Max Sageser of Earth, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a granddaughter, Jaclyn McGavock, and a sister, Emma Frances McCluskey. Those serving as pallbearers: Troy Burnett, Kyle Burnett, Chance Parten, Stephen McCullough, Jay Ray Sageser and Sid Sageser.
