Jack Delt Nichols

Military graveside services for Jack Delt Nichols, 66, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 11:00 am Monday, June 12, 2017, in the Strip Cemetery, Abernathy, TX, with Rev. Janet Edwards, pastor of the Abernathy First United Methodist Church, officiating.

Mr. Nichols died Tuesday, June 6, 2017, in Lubbock, TX.

He was born February 1, 1951 in Redding, CA to Homer Delt and Lois Ailene (Prince) Nichols.  He graduated Encina High School in Sacramento, CA in 1968.  He enlisted in the United States Army in October 1970, serving at Fort Benning, GA and Erlangen Germany until April of 1972, when he received an Honorable Discharge. He married Valerie Elizabeth Foote, September 4, 1976 in Sacramento, CA, and she preceded him in death, February 26, 2011.   They moved to Abernathy in 2007 and he was a member of the VFW.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Yvette Nichols and Tara McCalister both of Abernathy, 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a sister, Annette Green of Antelope, CA.
