Services for J. C. Danford, 75, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 10:00 am Tuesday, June 22, 2004, in the First Baptist Church, New Deal, TX. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Danford died Sunday morning, June 20, 2004, in Lubbock, TX. He was born May 12, 1929 in Frost, TX. He married Pat Jordan, January 6, 1951 in Hubbard, TX. They moved to the New Deal and Abernathy area in 1962 from Lockney, TX. He was in the cotton gin business for 50 years. Mr. Danford was a member of the New Deal First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the OTRA (Old Timers Ropers Association), and had founded the New Deal Rodeo Association with his son in the 1970's. He is survived by his wife, Pat of Abernathy, TX, a son, Steve Danford and his wife Laquitta of Abernathy, TX, a sister, Jo Coker of Hubbard, TX, 2 granddaughters, Mandy Spinar of Texline, TX, and Alesia Danford of Lubbock, TX and one great granddaughter, Gracie Spinar of Texline.
