Graveside services for Iris C. Johnson, 80, of Abernathy, TX were held at 2:00 pm Monday, July 22, 2002, in the Abernathy Cemetery with David Bennett and Steve Gauntt officiating. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mrs. Johnson died on Thursday, July 18, 2002, in Lubbock, TX. She was born in Oklahoma on January 22, 1922. She married James Dixon "Bud" Brice on May 19, 1939 in New Mexico. He preceded her in death in 1970. She moved from Wingate, TX to Hale Center, TX in 1953 and to Abernathy, TX in 1956. She married Dan Johnson on October 25, 1973 in Portales, N.M. She was a member of the Church of Christ and she was a housewife and mother for many years. She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Betty Cox. She is survived by her husband, Dan Johnson of Abernathy, TX, 1 son, J. D. Brice of Ennis, TX, 5 daughters, Naomia Lee Lewis of San Diego, CA, Lera Mae Davee of Brady, TX, Linda Olsen of Sunsites, AZ, Leslie Fielding of Abernathy, TX and Chele Brewer of Willcox, AZ. 2 sisters, Juanita Bryant of Truth or Consequences, NM, and Rose Faye Smith of Roswell, NM. 18 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
