Ida Bruington

Services for Ida Marie Bruington, 76, of Petersburg, TX, will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 21, 2012, in the Petersburg First Baptist Church with Rev. Don Rainey and Earl McDonough officiating. Burial will follow in the Petersburg Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. The family will receive friends at Abell Funeral Home, from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Saturday, October 20th. Mrs. Bruington died at her home Friday, October 19, 2012. She was born August 19, 1936 in Abernathy to Loren Frederick and Clara Ida (Lueck) Neis. She moved with her family to Petersburg at age 5 and married Billie E. Bruington in Petersburg on July 17, 1955. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Children's Sunday School Classes and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved sports and transported many children to tennis and baseball tournaments with her 2 sons. She served on the Board at the Petersburg Public Library. She is survived by her husband, Bill Bruington of Petersburg, TX, 2 sons, Dennis Bruington and his wife Jackie of Albuquerque, NM and Kevin Bruington of Lubbock, TX, 2 granddaughters, Kindell and Kathryn Bruington both of Austin, TX, a sister, Charlotte Becton and a brother, Reginald Neis both of Lubbock. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Southwest Cancer Center at UMC, Nurses and staff, and to Accolade Hospice for the concern and care given to Ida and the Bruington family. The family would like to suggests memorial donations be made to a favorite charity.
