Services for Gwen Riley, 80, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, October 31, 2013, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike O'Donnell, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. The family will gather at Abell Funeral Home to receive friends from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm, Wednesday, October 30th. Mrs. Riley died in Lubbock, TX, October 27, 2013. She was born December 16, 1932 to George and Inez (Stephens) Simpson, in Hamilton, TX. She married Bob Riley on November 12, 1950 in Clovis, NM. She was a lifetime Abernathy resident and member of the First Baptist Church. She loved music and played the piano at church and many area nursing homes. She also loved painting and gardening and could often be seen mowing her yard on her riding mower with her bonnet. She was involved in her grandchildren's activities and enjoyed cooking for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Bob Simpson and 2 sisters, Juanita Dorley and Shirley Rendleman. She is survived by her husband Bob of Abernathy, TX, a daughter, Sammie Stephenson and husband Gary of Abernathy, 3 sons, Steve Riley and wife Nan of Abernathy, Wayne Riley and wife Tammi of Andrews, TX and Van Riley and wife Amy of Abernathy. She loved her 9 grandchildren, Tracy Garcia and husband Jimmy, Sky Stephenson and wife Katelin, Leslie Kleve and husband Brian, Candice Kimbrough and husband Ramey, Miles Riley, Kinsey Norris and husband Nick, Tate Riley and wife Nikki, Carson Riley and Madison Riley and her 13 great grandchildren, Matt, Heaven, Raelyn, Jett, Luke, Abby, Kiley, Alexi, Rye, Cale, Kelsey and Riley..
