Gui Via

Services for Gui Via, 80, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 3:00 pm Tuesday, July 31, 2007, in the First Baptist Church, Happy, TX, with Rev. Paul Burwash and Rev. Dave Menefee officiating. Burial followed in the Happy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Via died at her home Saturday, July 28, 2007. She was born February 10, 1927 in Avery, TX. She married Walter Eugene Via on June 10, 1945 in Canyon, TX, and he preceded her in death on September 28, 2006. They moved from Happy to Abernathy in 1976, and she was employed with the Abernathy ISD for 18 years, retiring in 1996. While raising her 5 children, she was active in the Happy Schools, serving as president of the PTA and was a founding member of the Happy High School Rodeo Club. She was also involved in the Arney Community Club for many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Happy, TX. She is survived by her 5 children; Ronnie & Sheila Via of Tulia, TX, Gary and Jo Via of Plano, TX, Joe Bob and Kathy Via of Canyon, TX, Becky and Joe Rainer of Floydada, TX and Guy Walt and Jan Via of Midland, TX, one brother, Hershiel Harrison of El Frieda, AZ, 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
