Funeral services for Govnor Dee Palmer, 103, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, Januuary 9, 2007, in the Bethel Baptist Church in Abernathy, with Rev. W. R. Bolton, pastor, officiating. Graveside services were held at 11:00 am in the Bethel Cemetery, Butler, TX. Mr. Palmer died Friday, January 5, 2007, in Lubbock, TX. He was born June 18, 1903 in Butler, TX to Jakey Palmer and Alice Bailey Palmer. He married Udice Mae Woodard in 1928 in Butler, TX, she preceded him in death. In 1982, He married Geraldine jackson in Plainview, TX. He moved to Abernathy in 1947 from Madisonville, TX. He was employed by Abernathy Farmers Coop Gin from 1952 until 1994. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Houston, TX. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Govnorie May Terry in 1973. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Plamer of Abernathy, TX, 2 sons, Jake Palmer of Streetman, TX, and Claude Palmer of Dallas, TX, 2 daughters, Alice Mae jarman of Fairfield, TX, and Marie Rowlett of Dallas, TX, 4 step-sons, Charles Conally of Abernathy, TX, Graylon Hamilton of Lubbock, TX, Bobby Wayne hamilton of Amarillo, TX and Timmy hamilton of Corsicana, TX a step-daughter, Penny Hamilton Thomas of Abernathy, TX, 40 grandchildren 62 great grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren and 6 great great great grandchildren.
