Glennon Selke

Glennon A. Selke, 80, of Abernathy, TX, died Saturday morning October 30,.2004 in Waco, Texas. Mr. Selke had been living in central Texas for the last three years following a stroke. Services were held Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Abernathy with Rev. Joel Perez officialting. Glennon is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alice Selke. They raised two sons, Barry of Tulsa, OK and Darrell, of Waco, TX. He also had six grandchildren: Greg Selke of Dallas, Coby Selke of Waco, Traci Stupp of Tulsa, Amy Powell of Dallas, Sara Waters of Glen Rose and Emily Selke of Waco and four great grandchildren, brothers, Sherlan Selke of Lubbock and Bill Selke of Claremont, CA. Mr. Selke was proceeded in death by his mother and father, H.H. and Ollie Selke both of Abernathy a brother, Gerald Selke and sister Maxine Selke Courtney. Glennon lived most of his life in Abernathy, TX. He was a 1942 graduate of Abernathy High School. He served in the United States Army during WWII and recieved two Purple Hearts. After serving his country, Glennon returned home where he and Alice raised their two sons. Selke worked for Southwetern Public Service for 34 years retiring in 1986. Retirement was spent traveling and being a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and neighbor to his family and many friends in Abernathy. We will miss you Pap! Abell Funeral Home
