Graveside services for Gladys Masters Hail, 94, of Hale Center, TX, were held at 10:00 am Monday, October 11, 2010, in the Plainview Memorial Park. Dr. Stacy Conner, grandson and pastor of First Baptist Church in Muleshoe, TX and Rev. Jimmy Cameron, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Hale Center, TX, officiated. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Hale Center, TX . Mrs. Hail died Friday, October 8, 2010 in Slaton, TX. Gladys Ruth Masters was born January 26, 1916, at Jones, near Oklahoma City, OK to William Newton Masters and Fannie Lula Mayo Masters. She grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from Cowden High School in Washita County. In 1937, the family moved to Hale County, TX where she met and married D. J. Hail on November 30, 1938, in Plainview, Hale County, TX. D. J. preceded her in death on August 8, 1988. Gladys was the 7th of twelve children and is survived by one sister, Frances Ketron, of Richmond, Indiana. She is also survived by two daughters, Patsy Conley of Lubbock, TX and Linda Conner of Slaton, TX, 4 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson Wesley Conley. The family suggests that memorial contributions be given to Wayland Baptist University, 1900 W. 7th, Plainview, TX 79072 or the First United Methodist Church, Box 1258, Hale Center, TX 79041 Abell Funeral Home
