Services for Gerry Garner, 86, of Lubbock, TX, were held at 10:00 am Wednesday, May 17, 2006, in the Northside Church of Christ, 103 E. Tulane, Lubbock, TX, with James Whitehead officiating. Burial followed in Peaceful Gardens Cemetery, Woodrow, TX, under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Garner died Monday, May 15, 2006, in Lubbock, TX. She was born May 9, 1920 in Munday, TX to Albert and Annie Dean (Parkhill) White. She married George Garner November 3, 1947 in Lubbock, and he preceded her in death June 1, 2002. She was employed at Dunlap's from 1963 until retiring in December of 2005. She was a longtime member of the Northside Church of Christ. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Shropshire and husband Charles of New Deal, TX, 2 granddaughters, Tawnya May and husband Ross of Abernathy, TX and Tiffany Villegas and husband Crhis of New Deal, TX, 5 great granddaughters, Kay'D and Allison Villegas of New Deal, TX, and Kelbi, Ransi and Ragan May all of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Garner was preceded in death by a sister, Nell Prater. The family suggests memorials be sent to the Children's Home of Lubbock or to a favorite charity. Abell Funeral Home
