Funeral services for Evelyn (Bailey) Courtney, 90, of Hale Center, TX, were held at 10:00 am Tuesday, March 6, 2012, in the Church of Christ with Silas Short officiating. Burial followed in the Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Hale Center, TX. Mrs. Courtney died Thursday, March 1, 2012 in Lubbock, TX. She was born November 30, 1921 to Guy and Evelyn (Pruitt) Bailey in Hale Center. She attended Hale Center schools and then moved to California where she worked at Lockheed-Martin during WWII as a "Riveting Annie". After her retirement, she returned to Hale Center where she was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanan Courtney on March 11, 1998, 2 brothers, Ray Bailey and Jack Bailey and a sister, Willa Loomis. She is survived by a son, Skip Courtney and his wife Gay Lynn of Hot Springs, S. Dakota. Abell Funeral Home
