Emmett Crow

Services for Emmett M. Crow, 88, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 9, 2006, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. John Lowrie and Rev. R. C. Hester officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mr. Crow died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, in Lubbock. He was born June 2, 1917 in Rogers, TX, where he also married Helen Frances Hargrove on August 6, 1938. In 1939 they moved to Abernathy, TX where he began his farming career that continued his retirement in 1998. He served on the County Line Coop Gin Board, the PCCA Board, the Lubbock Coop Cotton Oil Mill and the Abernathy School Board and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Abernathy. He was preceded in death by a grandson in 1994, Darren Knox. He is survived by his wife, Helen Crow of Abernathy, TX, a daughter June Knox and her husband Pete of Abernathy, TX, 2 granddaughters, Denice Abbe and her husband Rusty and Debbie Sampley and her husband Shawn all of Lubbock, TX. He is also survived by his 6 great grandchildren, Lindsey and Stuart Bartley, Ashley and Alyssa Householder and Regan and Kelsey Abbe, and a great great granddaughter, Ashtyn-Taylor Bartley, 2 brothers, Watt Crow and Wilse Crow both of Baytown, TX, and 4 sisters, Doris Barringer and Clara Cryer both of Baytown, TX, May Barchenger of Austin, TX and Iva Taylor of Temple, TX. The family suggests memorials be sent to the American Diabetes Assn or the American Heart Assn. Abell Funeral Home
