Emma Griffay

Funeral services for Emma J. Griffay, 93, of Slaton, TX, and formerly of Abernathy, TX, were held at 10:00 am Tuesday, December 19, 2006, in the Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Horn officiating. Burial followed services in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Griffay died Sunday, December 10, 2006, in Slaton, TX. She was born on December 21, 1912 in Marlow, OK. She graduated from Lakeview High School and married Arthur Griffay in 1935 in Miami, AZ, and he preceded her in death in 1972. She was a Civil Servant Electroplater for the United States Air Force. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church and had been a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star in California and Abernathy and had served as Past Worthy Matron. She is survived by a son, Don Griffay and his wife Nancy of Sacramento, CA, 2 grandchildren, Anthony Griffay and his wife Eva of Milwaukee, WI and Teresa Ann Griffay Young and her husband Charles of Long Beach, CA, 3 great grandchildren, Daniella Griffay, Anthony J.
