Rosary for Elida V. Luna, 78, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 7:00 pm, Sunday, January 4, 2009, in St. Isidore Catholic Church with Rev. Jacob Puthumparambil, pastor, officiating. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:00 am Monday, January 5, 2009 in the same church. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Luna died Thursday, January 1, 2009, in Abernathy, TX. She was born August 20, 1930 in Mercedes, TX. She married Martin Luna in 1950 in Hale Center, TX. She was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church and was a member of the Guadalupanas in Abernathy and Hale Center. She has lived in Abernathy since 1956. She is preceded in death by 2 sisters. She is survived by her husband, Martin Luna of Abernathy, TX, 3 daughters, Rosemary Lorck of Dallas, TX, Iris Esquibel and Estefana Aguirre both of Lubbock, TX, 1 son, Martin Luna, Jr of Dallas, TX, a brother, Brigido Luna Jr. of Robstown, TX, 2 sisters, Julia Gallardo of Pharr, TX, and Aurora Garcia of Edinburg, TX, 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
