Edwin Johnson

Services for Edwin Lewis "Ed" Johnson, 69, were held 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Hale Center with Dr. Carrol Green officiating. Burial followed in the Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center. Mr. Johnson died at his residence in Hale Center on Saturday, November 21, 2009. He was born August 26, 1940 in Hale County to Melvina and Adron Mervin Johnson. He married Carol Brewer on July 13, 1962 in Cotton Center, Texas. He was the maintenance engineer for Hi-Plains Hospital for 13 years. Since 1981 he owned and operated his own construction business, WEMCO, with his sons. He is survived by his wife, Carol Johnson of Hale Center; 2 sons and their wives, Wesley and Beverly Johnson of Cotton Center, Murvin and Pam Johnson of Hale Center; 2 daughters, Cheryl and her husband, Connie Bowman of Littlefield and Patricia Johnson of Hale Center; a sister, Janet Perkinson of Hale Center; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Murvin in 1963 and James Johnson in March, 2009. Abell Funeral Home
