Earl Smalts

Graveside services for Earl Howard Smalts, Jr., 57, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, May 3, 2014, in the Abernathy Cemetery with Rev. Mike O'Donnell officiating. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. The family will gather to receive friends at Abell Funeral Home, Friday from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm. Mr. Smalts died in Lubbock, TX Monday, April 28, 2014. He was born July 15, 1956 in Shawnee, Ok, to Earl and Hazel (Schilling) Smalts. He earned his Bachelors of Accounting degree from Texas Tech University in 1988. He moved his family to Abernathy in 1995 from Amarillo, TX and was employed by Texas Tech as a radiation safety officer for 37 years. Mr. Smalts was preceded in death by his parents and 2 siblings. He is survived by his wife Margaret Ann Smalts of Abernathy, TX and 3 sons, Jacob (J.J.) of Houston, TX, Christopher of Abernathy and Brady of Lubbock, TX.
