Services for Dyvena Mae (Evans) Davis, 89, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 11:00 am Monday, January 21, 2008, in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Don Cheshire, pastor, officiating. Erin Hunt assisted. Burial followed services in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Davis died Thursday morning, January 17, 2008, in Olton, TX. SHe was born January 23, 1918 in Roswell, NM. She married james Willis Davis on November 27, 1936 in Lubbock, TX. He preceded her in death on June 6, 2004. She moved from New Mexico to Eagle Springs Community and has lived in Abernathy since she was age 7. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Sherry Gail Davis, 2 sisters, Lelia Knutson and Tootsie Smith and 2 brothers, Doyle Evans and Marvin Evans. She is survived by a son, Jimmie Davis and his wife Gale of Abernathy, TX, 2 daughters, Billie Dean and her husband David of Halfway, TX and Betty Ballard and her husband L. D. of Rockport, TX, a brother, M. D. Evans and his wife Beth of Abernathy, TX, 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Abell Funeral Home
