Dortha Mae Conn

Graveside services for Dortha Mae (Barron) Conn, 91, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Resthaven Cemetery, Lubbock, TX, with Rev. Damon Pearce and Rev. Larry Bloskas officiating. The family will gather to receive friends from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm, Friday, December 10, 2021 at Abell Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Conn died in Littlefield, TX, December 5, 2021. She was born February 2, 1930 in Abernathy to James E. "Jay" and Myrtle (Abney) Barron. Dortha graduated from Abernathy High School in 1947. Later that year, December 19, 1947, she married Marion Buford Conn in Abernathy. She worked at Texas Tech in the registrars office for 20 years. She loved reading and cooking and was a happy homemaker, and loved being home taking care of her family. She was a member of the County Line Baptist Church for 50 years, was a member of the First Baptist Church in Abernathy and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Dortha was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Buford Conn, April 30, 2017, 2 brothers, Lawrence L. Barron and Verlon Barron, and 2 grandchildren, Nathan Conn and Jake Lawrence. She is survived by her 2 children, James Conn and wife Joyce of Abernathy, and Paula Lawrence and husband Bruce of Anton, 5 grandchildren, Jason Conn, Bryan Conn, Paul Lawrence, Lee Roy Lawrence, Amber Parkinson, 12 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and 2 sisters, Vernita Elder of Las Cruces, NM and Nell Dean Apperson of Lewisville, TX. The family suggests memorials be sent to Legacy of Love Hospice, 125 E. Marshall Blvd, Littlefield, TX 79339
