DOROTHY LORAINE PETTY STEPHENS ABERNATHY, TX Graveside services for Dorothy Loraine Petty Stephens, 92, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 3:00 pm Saturday, March 28, 2010, in the Abernathy Cemetery with Rev. Mike Davis officiating. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Stephens died Thursday, March 25, 2010, in Lubbock, TX. She was born on May 2, 1917 in Hill County, TX. She married Ralph Marion Stephens on April 17, 1937 in Abernathy, TX. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2000. She moved to Abernathy with her parents, Elmer and Vera (Tarver) Petty, at age 9. She played basketball and graduated from Abernathy High School. She was owner of Abernathy Floral for over 30 years, which was her passion and she was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Stephens Kincaid, a son, Sam Stephens, a brother, Vernon Petty and a sister, Billie Jean Harrison. She is survived by 2 sons, Ronnie Stephens and his wife Peggy of Graham, TX and Gene Stephens and his wife Doris Anna of Abernathy, TX, and a daughter, Ruedelle Hill and her husband Hugh of Abernathy, TX. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. The family received friends at Abell Funeral Home, Saturday from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm.
