Doris Harris

Memorial services for Doris Jean Harris, 71, of Abernathy, TX, will be at 11:00 am Monday, August 19, 2014, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Perez and Randall Stillwell officiating. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. She was born March 19, 1943 to Wade & Zona (Shipp) McKeowen in Littlefield, TX. She married A. C. Harris, Jr. on November 23, 1961 in Shallowater, TX. They made their home in Abernathy. She worked for 27 years for Joe Thompson Implement before finishing her career at Ray Lee Equipment in Plainview, TX. She was a golfer and a trap shooter and a volunteer with the Abernathy EMS as an EMT. She was also a member of the Abernathy First Baptist Church. Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her sister, Nina Bienroth, brother, Charles McKeowen, and sister-in-law, Tam McKeowen. She is survived by her husband, A. C. Harris, Jr., of Abernathy, daughter, Julie Powell and husband, Ricky, of Abernathy, son Jason Harris and wife, Kim, of Rosenburg, TX, 3 grandchildren, Bryant, Jace, & Emmy Powell of Abernathy, 2 brothers, Gene McKeowen of Shallowater, and Jerry McKeowen of Woodrow, TX, and a sister, Marie Wampler of Ralls, TX. The family suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
