Don Mckenzie

Services for Don L. McKenzie, 83, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 10:00 am Thursday, June 28, 2012, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike O'Donnell officiating. Buriall followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. The family received friends at Abell Funeral Home Wednesday from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Mr. McKenzie was born January 14, 1929 in Abernathy and married Janice Neve on September 19, 1958 in Abernathy, serving in the United States Army in Korea. He was a lifelong Abernathy resident and was a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge AF & AM 1142. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Men's Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Gouldy. He is survived by his wife, Janice of Abernathy, TX, 2 sons, Gary McKenzie and Jimmy McKenzie and his wife Jana all of Lubbock, TX and a daughter, Vicky McKenzie of Lubbock, TX, 4 grandchildren, Ashleigh and husband Michael of Lubbock, TX, and Tanner of Lubbock, Jordan of Ft. Worth, TX and Jace also of Lubbock, 1 great grandson, Shane and a great granddaughter, Avery, to be born in July. The family suggests memorials be sent to a favorite charity. Abell Funeral Home
