Derl E. Mcguire

Services for Derl E. McGuire, 86, of Shallowater, TX, will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, March 6, 2020, in the Abernathy Church of Christ with Corby LaCroix and Eben Emerson officiating. Burial will follow in the Anton Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. The family will gather at Abell Funeral Home to receive friends from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm, Thursday, March 5, 2020. Derl McGuire died Tuesday, March 3, 2020, peacefully in his home. He was born May 29, 1933 in Lubbock County, TX to William Martin and Audrey Edna (Griffith) McGuire. Derl graduated from Abernathy High School in 1951 and served in the US Army from July 22, 1955 until being Honorably Discharged on May 3, 1957. He married Frances Boswell in Lubbock on November 9, 1957. He farmed and raised his 3 children at County Line, TX. Derl loved to farm and fish and was a member of the Lawrence Ave. Church of Christ in Anton. Derl is preceded in death by his wife, Frances and his best friend and brother, Donald of Muleshoe, TX. He is survived by 2 sons, Wayne McGuire and wife Connie of County Line, TX, Dean McGuire and wife Denise of Alba, TX, one daughter, Darla McClure and husband Jeff of Henrietta, TX, a sister, Carolyn Woods of County Line, 10 grandchildren and 13 and 3/4 great grandchildren. The family wishes to express a very special thanks to Derl's 2 loving caregivers of 3 years, Linda Reyna of Crosbyton, TX and Cynthia Gutierrez of Abernathy. He loved you both!
