Dene Bridges

Services for Dene Bridges, 74, of Lubbock, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Monday, February 4, 2008, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike O'Donnell, pastor, officiating. Military Graveside services followed in the Abernathy Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Bridges died Friday, February 1, 2008, in Lubbock, TX. He was born May 15, 1933 in Detroit, TX to Hardy Lee Bridges and Ollie Mae (Evans) Bridges. He was raised in Abernathy and married La Nelda Hughes on April 25, 1953 in Plainview, TX. He served in the United States Army from 1953 until 1957. They moved to Lubbock in 1981. He was a member of the Abernathy First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, La Nelda Bridges of Lubbock, TX, 5 children, Ricky Bridges and his wife Pam of Lubbock, TX, Don Bridges of Buffalo Springs Lake, TX, Ron Bridges and his wife Denessa of Lubbock, TX, Dennis Bridges and his wife Ginny of Texarkana, TX and Sherri Shoemaker and her husband Roger of Flower Mound, TX. He is also survived by a brother, Johnny Bridges and his wife Sue of Pensacola, FL, a sister, Wanda Jordan of Ft. Worth, TX, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Abell Funeral Home
