David Scott

Memorial services for David R. Scott, 55, of Petersburg, TX, will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, June 11th, 2015, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Scott died Saturday, June 6th, 2015, in Petersburg, TX. He was born January 27, 1960 to Harris and Geneva (Stallings) Scott, in Lubbock, TX. He graduated Abernathy High School in 1978 and Texas Tech University. He married Carrie Howell on March 4, 1983 in Abernathy. He worked as a Lubbock EMS Paramedic and graduated from Covenant School of Nursing in 2011 and was employed by W. J. Mangold Memorial Hospital in Lockney, TX. He was a member of the Petersburg First United Methodist Church. He collected pocket knives, flashlights, and model ambulances and medical vehicles. He was funny, sarcastic and intelligent. He is survived by his wife, Carrie Scott of Petersburg, TX, Mother, Geneva Scott of Abernathy, 2 children, Brittany Murphy and husband Shadd of Abernathy, TX and Gasten Scott of Aurora, CO and 2 grandchildren, Fallon and Slade Murphy, also of Abernathy, TX. In his words, " I have a granddaughter who thinks she's smarter than me, and a grandson who actually is smarter than me."
