Reverend David E. Floyd-Harp, 51, Pastor of First United Methodist Church in Alpine, TX, died suddenly Monday, June 21, 2004, at Alpine, TX. Services were held at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church in Alpine. Graveside services were held at 10:00 am Thursday, June 24, 2004, in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Reverend Floyd-Harp was born iin Lubbock, TX, July 3, 1952 to Elbert and Clara Harp. David was a graduate of Abernathy High School, received his BS degree from Wayland University and his MS degree from Iliff School of Theology. He pastored Methodist and Baptist Churches in Colorado and Far West Texas. He married Phyllis Floyd on August 19, 1972. He was a member of the Lions Club and Masonic Lodge. Davis is survived by his wife, Phyllis Floyd-Harp of Alpine, TX, a daughter, Shirley Harp of Witchita Falls, TX, on son, Michael Harp of Seattle, WA, a brother Dr. Daryl Harp of Knoxville, TN, a sister Carol Norman of Plano, TX, parents, Elbert and Clara Harp of Abernathy, TX and Marvin and Jerry Floyd of County Line, TX.
