Darvin Allen

Services for Darvin Allen, 54, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Monday, January 2, 2006, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church. Burial followed services in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Allen died at his home Thursday, December 30, 2005. He was born September 12, 1951 in Lubbock County. He was raised in Abernathy and married Joy Wright, September 30, 1967 in Juarez, Mexico. They moved to Crosbyton, TX in 1978 where they lived until moving back to Abernathy in 1995. While living in Crosbyton he was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department and was involved in Little Dribblers Basketball as a coach while his children were young. He was a member of the Abernathy First Baptist Church. Darvin enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing and a good game of cards. He was preceded in death by their daughter, Shala Cornelius, March 20, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Joy Allen of Abernathy, TX, a son, Dereck Allen of Phoenix, AZ, a grandson, J'Dereck Cornelius of Abernathy, and two brothers, Dennis Allen of Austin, TX, and Danny Joe Allen of Plainview, TX.
