Danny S. Rhodes, 79 of Shallowater, Texas, passed away on August 3, 2026, in Shallowater, TX. Born on February 8, 1947, in Lubbock, TX, to L.W. "Squeaky" and Billye Rhodes, Danny was known for his joyful spirit, unwavering faith, and a whole lot of stubbornness that made him the incredible man he was.
Danny was raised in Shallowater where he graduated from Shallowater High School in 1965. He was a dedicated plant manager at Diamond Plastics for 32 years and spent 14 years working for the Desoto Independent School District. Danny Married Linda Reed on January 14, 2006 in Duncanville, Texas. A true family man, he kept God at the center of his life and was an active Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Shallowater. Danny's greatest loves were flying, fishing, hunting, the Dallas Cowboys and strumming his guitar while enjoying life with his wife, Linda, and their family. He cherished his family, he found his greatest joy in loving his devoted wife, spending time with his children, grandchildren, and proudly watching his great grandkids grow, play sports, and reach life's milestones.
Danny is survived by his loving wife, Linda Rhodes of Shallowater, Texas, children, Barry and wife Melissa Rhodes of Shallowater, and Davey and wife Tanya Rhodes, also of Shallowater, and Lesli and husband David Russell from Frisco. He was a proud grandfather to Brittany Hampton, Tyler and wife Darian Rhodes, Ryan and wife Sharon Rhodes, Chelsea and husband Casey Berryman, Bridget Rhodes, Payton and wife Jessica Rhodes, Reagan and husband Hunter Varnell, and Allyson Russell, and a great-grandfather to Kayden, Addi, Axel, Kinsley, Rylen, Ryker, Tyler, Grayson, and Hattie. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 8, 2026 at First Baptist Church Shallowater, with Rev. Brad Miles officiating. The family will gather to receive friends prior to the service at 9:00 AM, August 8, 2026 at First Baptist Church Shallowater. . Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, Texas.
